The Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) is the apex governing body responsible for the administration, development, and promotion of cricket in Manipur. Affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Association is dedicated to building a robust cricketing ecosystem that nurtures talent from the grassroots to the highest levels of the game.
From its humble beginnings, MNCA has evolved into a structured and professionally managed organization, guided by the principles of transparency, efficiency, and excellence. Through the organization of domestic competitions, age-group tournaments, coaching programs, and infrastructure development initiatives, the Association continues to create meaningful opportunities for aspiring cricketers across the state.
Our History
Cricket was introduced in Manipur during the reign of Maharaja Sir Churachand Singh as early as 1907. One of the earliest recorded milestones was a friendly match played in 1912 between the teams of the Maharaja of Manipur and Maharaja Birendra Manikya Dev Barman Bahadur of Tripura, reflecting the growing popularity of the game in the region.
Pre-1975: The Foundation Years
Nurtured by passionate lovers of the game who laid the groundwork for future development through local clubs and informal competitions, laying the groundwork for future development.
1975-1998: The Formative Years
MNCA was formally established and registered on 16th September 1975. Organized cricket took shape with state-level competitions and participation in national school tournaments such as the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and C.K. Nayudu Trophy.
1998-2018: The Development Phase
MNCA became an Associate Member of the BCCI on 23rd September 1998, opening new avenues for participation in national competitions and strengthening the competitive framework of cricket in the state.
2018 onwards: The Modern Era
The year 2018 marked a historic breakthrough when MNCA attained Full Membership of the BCCI and made its debut in the Ranji Trophy, establishing Manipur as a full-fledged participant in the national circuit.
